To bring you my love

Climbed over mountains
Travelled the sea
Cast down off heaven
Cast down on my knees
I’ve laid with the devil
To bring you my love
PJ Harvey

PJ floats over the water like a musical Ophelia. The sound of her throat makes me edgy like Amy Hempel’s surreal stories.
Beyond ‘Down by the water’ in which the rhythms overlap, I shoot the photos to PJ’s beat in this case. It happens often with other music, although I am unaware of the exact moment.
There are two types of music: the one you listen to and the one you hold inside.
I think of writing about how images and sounds blend, even if I am not clear about it, only metaphors that barely reach the surface, never the depths. She speaks about sleeping with the demon. It’s an option. I know what she means and how she goes down that rabbit hole.
Lucky me, I found a way out one year ago.
In other location, I watch Florence dancing and many other woman I portrayed in the past. I look for notes I took about the songs and the pictures flipping the pages of a scribbled notebook.
I wanted to write about trance, about what is now widely described as sensation, but I really don’t know. I keep looking in the aloofness of that woman in London, in the trust I could spot in Martha’s eyes after years of domestic abuse, in the feeling of fingertips softly stroking hair.
